ABE celebrates award success in its 50th Year

Dedicated employees at a Ledbury transport company have been rewarded for their efforts after winning a prestigious award and being runner-up in a second.

ABE Ledbury, which is part of Palletline Logistics, was presented with the Small Business of the Year award in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Awards at a glittering ceremony and came second in the Excellence in Customer Service category.

The awards sparked a double whammy of celebrations for ABE which is also celebrating its 50th year in business this year.

The Awards were held at the University of Worcester Arena and hosted by stand-up comedian Rhys James.  Over 700 guests attended representing businesses across the two counties.

Established with just two vehicles in 1972, the company was originally founded to serve Herefordshire’s agriculture and horticulture sectors.

Today it employs a 75-strong workforce, operating 50 vehicles with 60 trailers, serving customers across Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Powys and Shropshire.

Clive Brooks, Managing Director of ABE Ledbury, said he and his team were delighted with their success.

He said: “It was a fantastic night and a great boost to the team which works tirelessly to deliver the best service to each and every customer.

‘The last few years in particular have been more challenging than usual, not just with the pandemic but with issues that span across the transport industry such as Brexit, fuel shortages and unprecedented fluctuations in volumes.

“At times it really has felt like we’ve been firefighting the various issues just to ensure we continue to deliver the ultimate service to customers, so to win such coveted recognition, especially in the face of stiff competition from businesses across a whole array of sectors, is a real testament to ABE Ledbury and every one of our team.”

Paul Elson, Managing Director, Palletline Logistics said, “It’s great to see ABE recognised for its consistently high standards. The team have built a reputation for delivering excellent services to customers in Herefordshire and across the UK and this award is a testament to their hard work and dedication day in, day out.”

“Huge congratulations to the team!”
